LET IT RIP
down on the corner of the avenue, big bad george singing
rhythm and blues
toy ball jumped the table when they started to rock, i slammed
another dollar in that old tip box feet were stompin' on the
hardwood floor the night was young and we began to roar
we let it rip
dancing and drinking till we got in line, we all did the gator in
double time the place was rockin' from the inside out, we all
went crazy and began to shout
glass was breaking everybody was shaking, hey bop a rey da bop
a gone gone gone we let it rip
we let it rip like the engine of a number nine, let it rip like the power
of a guitar line we let it rip till my heart couldn't stand it no more
we let it rip till the carpet jumped off the floor we let it rip
the liquor and the smoke finally took its toll the drummer passed out
in the middle of a roll the boss said boys i cant take it no more
we got our things together and moved outdoors dancing in the street
till early dawn hey bop a rey da bop a gone gone gone we let it rip

RIPPED THE HEART
the moon burned hot on a cool cool night the sun turned blue and froze
to ice my knees started shaking like a worn out truck
my eyes rained tears i got all choked up my head went swimming in a
deep dark sea you ripped the heart out of me
i crawled to the window, peeked through the blinds, gonna need somebody to
help me, its just a matter of time
i called my friends to calm me down, i rang and i rang but there was no one
around my mind started shaking like a leaf on a tree you ripped the heart
out of me
i went to my car, needed to ride doin' a hundred and ten in no condition to
drive i looked in the mirror, sweat poured from my face, the road was a
black snake, i was lost in the race i took a turn for the worse, and now i've
started to bleed you ripped the heart out of me

MY FIRST LOVE WAS ROCK AND ROLL
love is a gift everyone is born with find it in a soft touch, lose it with a fist
everybody needs it, the young and old, my first love was rock and roll
in school they only taught facts and history, all i ever wanted was a rock
and roll degree
girls drove me wild, I was too young, and so, my first love was rock and roll
all the guys with money and automobiles, spending their time shining up
chrome wheels
trying to impress girls with what they drove, when any car was cool if it had
a radio
i made to every dance if i had to hitchhike, couldn't tie me down on a saturday
night outa town bands always thrilled my soul, my first love was rock and roll
a song could make me cry, a song could make me scream, guitar made me
crazy, music made me dream, saving all my lunch money just as fast as I
can, get me a guitar, start me a band
rockin' in the basement all day long, driving my folks crazy, only knew one
song, old man said, its gettin' outa control, my first love was rock and roll

WILLY THE WIMP
willy the wimp was buried today they laid him to rest in a special way
they sent him off in the finest style that casket mobile really drove em'
wild
south side of chicago will think of him often talkin' bout willy the wimp
and his cadillac coffin
that casket looked like a clean seville with a vanity license and a
cadillac grill willy was propped up in the driver's seat, diamonds on his
fingers smiling so sweet in his fine red suit he had the whole town talkin'
willy the wimp and his cadillac coffin
in his cadillac to heaven waving his banner, he left like he lived in a lively
manner hundred dollar bills in his fingers tight flowers for wheels flashing
head lights driving to glory no way he be walkin' willy the wimp and his
cadillac coffin

'67 BUICK A.F.
i went down to sound warehouse last thursday afternoon to buy a zz topp cassette
i was in a funky mood sitting in my car just about to go in when this red head
freckle faced southern girl grinned she said hey boy come now take me for a ride
straight down the highway over to the eastside
she was a long legged sweet smelling street working mama, said her name was
stella just blew in from alabama said she'd make it worth my while if i'd take her
where she's goin', drain my oil blow hard on my horn i knew she wasnt kidding when
she slid in next to me took a hold of my hand slid it up between her knees
i was trying to keep my buick from going in the ditch, the things she did to me made me
jump and twitch barreling down the the highway with her head in my lap, eyes glued
to the road like a kamikaze jap praying to myself we dont crash and burn but it felt
so good i sped right past our turn
finally it happened i came back around, she looked up at me i said welcome to town
i dropped her on the corner of 9th and broadway i said check you later, she said have
a good day i creeped off slowly with a stupid silly grin, back to the record shop, this
time i went in
well i got the tape i was after, slammed that sucker in the deck, turned it up to ten, got
on that 67 buick, but i couldn't get past the very first song, i played it over and over
all night long, thinkin' bout that girl and what she done to me, i drove all over town
singing the tube snake boogie

Road Block

ROADBLOCK
drivin' cross texas fast as i can but there's a roadblock waiting with a police man
check my license, check my plates, say my registration is a year out of date
baby's at the border, but every time i go there's a roadblock up ahead blocking
the road
when they see me coming their fingers itch, here he come again hoodlum sonofobitch
booked me on suspicion of being to free, towed away my car, threw away the key
i got another wheel but wouldn't you know, there's a roadblock up ahead blocking the
road
well my little border baby is a waitin' for me, she's a rich man's prayer, a poor boy's
dream, hold on honey my love is true, gonna find a way to break on through
i drive and i drive but they keep turning me back, i drove an old studebaker, a new
pontiac, even hid inside a stinkin' tater sack, in the bed of a truck when the night was
black they smelled me comin', checked that load at the roadblock blockin' the road
well i've had my fill of driving, know what i'll do, hop a tornado, ride it to you
they'll never think of looking for me up in the air, cops will hear me howling when i blow
through there i'll make them eat my dust down below at the roadblock blocking the road

IT'S TIME YOU KNEW
when the hound dog howls at the full moon night i'll be peeking in your
kitchen looking for your bedroom light
chorus: it's time you knew, time you knew, it's time you knew how crazy
love can be
if i won a hundred million dollars cash, for one sweet kiss i'd throw it in
the trash
chorus
on a tightrope stretched across the grand canyon wide, hand over hand
through a ring of fire
carve your initials on the capital dome, spray paint your name on the
white house lawn
chorus

I NEED A BREAK
i've got three flats and i'm out of gas, oh i need a break
my phone's unhooked here comes the i.r.s., oh i need a break
my best guitar is at the easy loan, landlord wants me out of
his home for goodness sake, oh i need a break
i walked 10 miles to my babys' down the road
i knocked and knocked and then i knocked some more
my baby peeked out from her bedroom blind, i saw my friend
Frankie run out from back behind
for goodness sake, i need a break
i dreamed i died of a heart attack, i was riding in style in a
long cadillac when my soul flew up to the pearly gates, a
voice said, "sorry, you're in the wrong place", oh for goodness
sake, i need a break
