LET IT RIP down on the corner of the avenue, big bad george singing rhythm and blues toy ball jumped the table when they started to rock, i slammed another dollar in that old tip box feet were stompin' on the hardwood floor the night was young and we began to roar we let it rip dancing and drinking till we got in line, we all did the gator in double time the place was rockin' from the inside out, we all went crazy and began to shout glass was breaking everybody was shaking, hey bop a rey da bop a gone gone gone we let it rip we let it rip like the engine of a number nine, let it rip like the power of a guitar line we let it rip till my heart couldn't stand it no more we let it rip till the carpet jumped off the floor we let it rip the liquor and the smoke finally took its toll the drummer passed out in the middle of a roll the boss said boys i cant take it no more we got our things together and moved outdoors dancing in the street till early dawn hey bop a rey da bop a gone gone gone we let it rip

RIPPED THE HEART the moon burned hot on a cool cool night the sun turned blue and froze to ice my knees started shaking like a worn out truck my eyes rained tears i got all choked up my head went swimming in a deep dark sea you ripped the heart out of me i crawled to the window, peeked through the blinds, gonna need somebody to help me, its just a matter of time i called my friends to calm me down, i rang and i rang but there was no one around my mind started shaking like a leaf on a tree you ripped the heart out of me i went to my car, needed to ride doin' a hundred and ten in no condition to drive i looked in the mirror, sweat poured from my face, the road was a black snake, i was lost in the race i took a turn for the worse, and now i've started to bleed you ripped the heart out of me

MY FIRST LOVE WAS ROCK AND ROLL love is a gift everyone is born with find it in a soft touch, lose it with a fist everybody needs it, the young and old, my first love was rock and roll in school they only taught facts and history, all i ever wanted was a rock and roll degree girls drove me wild, I was too young, and so, my first love was rock and roll all the guys with money and automobiles, spending their time shining up chrome wheels trying to impress girls with what they drove, when any car was cool if it had a radio i made to every dance if i had to hitchhike, couldn't tie me down on a saturday night outa town bands always thrilled my soul, my first love was rock and roll a song could make me cry, a song could make me scream, guitar made me crazy, music made me dream, saving all my lunch money just as fast as I can, get me a guitar, start me a band rockin' in the basement all day long, driving my folks crazy, only knew one song, old man said, its gettin' outa control, my first love was rock and roll

JONES she drives a 55' merc like right off the showroom floor, she wears a long ponytail, saddle shoes and I'll tell you more in 55' she was sweet fourteen, now she's over forty, still live in a dream mrs. jones you got the rock and roll devil to pay it's always burgers and fries, milkshakes ordered to go all her furniture is vinyl, she dresses like marilyn monroe her walls are all covered with pictures of her 59' prom, "you belong to me" is still her favorite song mrs. jones you got, the rock and roll devil to pay she's locked in the fifties, digs it the most, she's hard to believe, like seeing a ghost she sold that devil her heart and soul, now she lives to rock and she loves to roll she still does the bop, the twist, the bird and the fly she's never heard of michael jackson and swears elvis never died she stacks up eight old singles on her blown out dyna tone, hears a wop bop a loo bop and man she's gone mrs. jones you got the rock and roll devil to pay

ROCK-A-BYE HOTEL cruising in a dream late last night, road sign said hotel on the right i slammed on the brakes, hit the high beams, i couldn't believe my eyes the parking lot was full of mean machines, fromm forty fords to 55's i was at the rock, rock-a-bye hotel, praying that i'd never wake up i was at the rock, rock-a-bye hotel, i tell ya it was all too much neon sign said come on in, i asked for a room and then it all began we got the buddy holly penthouse, chuck berry suite, man if you think thats cool, there's a party going on that lasts all night long by the elvis presley swimming pool, welcome to the rock-a-bye hotel maids were bopping in their bobby sox, evry single room had its own juke box the rules on the door said no check out time, just dance until you cant no more you can have a party that will be just fine, there's never no need to lock your door here at the rock-a-bye hotel

WILLY THE WIMP willy the wimp was buried today they laid him to rest in a special way they sent him off in the finest style that casket mobile really drove em' wild south side of chicago will think of him often talkin' bout willy the wimp and his cadillac coffin that casket looked like a clean seville with a vanity license and a cadillac grill willy was propped up in the driver's seat, diamonds on his fingers smiling so sweet in his fine red suit he had the whole town talkin' willy the wimp and his cadillac coffin in his cadillac to heaven waving his banner, he left like he lived in a lively manner hundred dollar bills in his fingers tight flowers for wheels flashing head lights driving to glory no way he be walkin' willy the wimp and his cadillac coffin

'67 BUICK A.F. i went down to sound warehouse last thursday afternoon to buy a zz topp cassette i was in a funky mood sitting in my car just about to go in when this red head freckle faced southern girl grinned she said hey boy come now take me for a ride straight down the highway over to the eastside she was a long legged sweet smelling street working mama, said her name was stella just blew in from alabama said she'd make it worth my while if i'd take her where she's goin', drain my oil blow hard on my horn i knew she wasnt kidding when she slid in next to me took a hold of my hand slid it up between her knees i was trying to keep my buick from going in the ditch, the things she did to me made me jump and twitch barreling down the the highway with her head in my lap, eyes glued to the road like a kamikaze jap praying to myself we dont crash and burn but it felt so good i sped right past our turn finally it happened i came back around, she looked up at me i said welcome to town i dropped her on the corner of 9th and broadway i said check you later, she said have a good day i creeped off slowly with a stupid silly grin, back to the record shop, this time i went in well i got the tape i was after, slammed that sucker in the deck, turned it up to ten, got on that 67 buick, but i couldn't get past the very first song, i played it over and over all night long, thinkin' bout that girl and what she done to me, i drove all over town singing the tube snake boogie

ROADBLOCK drivin' cross texas fast as i can but there's a roadblock waiting with a police man check my license, check my plates, say my registration is a year out of date baby's at the border, but every time i go there's a roadblock up ahead blocking the road when they see me coming their fingers itch, here he come again hoodlum sonofobitch booked me on suspicion of being to free, towed away my car, threw away the key i got another wheel but wouldn't you know, there's a roadblock up ahead blocking the road well my little border baby is a waitin' for me, she's a rich man's prayer, a poor boy's dream, hold on honey my love is true, gonna find a way to break on through i drive and i drive but they keep turning me back, i drove an old studebaker, a new pontiac, even hid inside a stinkin' tater sack, in the bed of a truck when the night was black they smelled me comin', checked that load at the roadblock blockin' the road well i've had my fill of driving, know what i'll do, hop a tornado, ride it to you they'll never think of looking for me up in the air, cops will hear me howling when i blow through there i'll make them eat my dust down below at the roadblock blocking the road
